The “Chios Societies of America and Canada,
Inc.” cordially invites all fellow Chians and their friends to attend
the 6th International and 57rd National Chian Convention that will be
held in Chios, from July 30 – August 5, 2011. This summer let’s all
visit Greece, this way we all will be contributing to the economy of our
island. Our message has been the same for all these years from the past
five international conventions: return to our roots, to the place where
our parents were born, and to introduce our children to Chios, the place
we all love.
On Saturday, July 30th, we will all attend the Enosis Omogenon Society’s
Annual Dance at the Golden Sand Hotel, in Karfas. On Sunday, July 31st,
we will be hosting a beach party for the young adults and the delegates
with their families will be dining beachfront in Komi. On August 1st &
2nd, everyone is invited to join us on two separate excursions featuring
the Northern & Southern villages of Chios with renowned tour guide,
Thomas Karpouzlis. On the evening of Wednesday, August 3rd, the official
opening ceremony will take place at the Homeric Cultural Centre in Chios.
On Thursday, August 4th, the delegate meeting will take place in the
morning and in the evening invited speakers will participate in seminars
and discussions about a variety of Hellenic and Chian issues. The
Convention concludes with the Grand Banquet where we will return to the
Golden Sand Hotel, in Karfas, on Friday, August 5th.
The Supreme Lodge and Board of Directors are looking forward to seeing
all members, their families, and friends, at the Convention, so that we
may continue this tradition and see forth our ongoing efforts to achieve
our goals as Chians. The Convention will be a great opportunity for all
Chians from the United States and Canada to meet other Chians from
Europe, Africa, and Australia. In these troubled economic times, our
presence in Chios this summer will strengthen and support the economy of
our beloved Island of Chios.

August is the busiest month of the year for tourism in Chios and hotel
rooms, autos, and airline tickets are limited and at a premium. Please

Τά Ηνωμένα Χιακά Σωματεία Αμερικής και Καναδά προσκαλούν όλους τους
Χιώτες και τους φίλους τους να παρευρεθούν στο 6ο Παγκόσμιο Αποδήμων
Χίων και 57ο Ετήσιο Χιακό Συνέδριο που θα γίνει στήν Χίο, από τις 30
Ιουλίου-5 Αυγούστου 2011. Ας επισκεφθούμε αυτό το καλοκαίρι την Ελλάδα,
συμβάλλοντας με τον τρόπο αυτό στην οικονομία του νησιού μας. Το μηνυμά
μας είναι γνωστό όλα αυτά τα χρόνια από τα προυγούμενα συνέδρια:
Επιστροφή στις ρίζες μας, στο τόπο που γεννήθηκαν οι γονείς μας, να
γνωρίσουν τα παιδιά την Χίο που όλοι έχουμε αγαπήσει.
Το Σάββατο, 30 Ιουλίου, όλοι θα παρευρεθούμε στον ετήσιο χορό του
Συλλόγου Ένωσης Ομογενών Χίου στο Ξενοδοχείο Golden Sand στόν Καρφά. Την
Κυριακή, 31 Ιουλίου, θα φιλοξενήσουμε τη νεολαία με γλέντι στήν παραλία
της Κόμης και οι αντιπροσώποι με τις οικογένειές τους θα παραβρεθούν σε
εστιατόριο για δείπνο. 1η και 2 Αυγούστου, θα πραγματοποιηθούν δύο
χωριστές εκδρομες στα βόρεια και νότια χωριά της Χίου με τον διάσημο
τουριστικό οδηγό, Θωμά Καρπουζλή. Την Τετάρτη, 3ης Αυγούστου, η εναρξή
του συνέδριου θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Ομήρειο Πνευματικό Κέντρο στην Χόρα.
Την Πέμπτη, 4 Αυγούστου, η συνεδρίαση και εργασίες συνεδρίου θα
πραγματοποιηθούν το πρωί και το απογευμά μια σειρά προσκεκλημένων
ομιλητών θα συμμετέχουν σε σεμινάρια και συζητήσεις Χιακών και Ελληνικών
θεμάτων. Την Παρασκευή, 5η Αυγούστου, το συνέδριο θα ολοκληρωθεί με την
χοροεσπερίδα μας στο Ξενοδοχείο Golden Sand στόν Καρφά.
Η Υπατη Στοά και το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο ανυπομονούν να δούν όλα τα μέλη,
τις οικογένειες τους και τους φίλους τους στο Συνεδρίο, για να
συνεχίσουμε τις προσπάθειές μας ώστε να επιτύχουμε τους στόχους μας ως
Χιώτες. Το Συνέδριο θα είναι μια μεγάλη ευκαιρία για όλους τους
ομογενείς από τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες και τον Καναδά να συναντηθούν με
ομογενείς από την Ευρώπη, την Αφρική, την Αυστραλία, και Νότια Αμερική.
Η παρουσία μας στην Χίο, αυτό το καλοκαίρι, θα ενισχύση και θα
υποστηρίξη την οικονομία του αγαπημένου νησιού μας.
