The Chios
Societies of America and Canada, Inc. cordially invites all fellow
Chians and their friends to attend the 6th International and 57rd
National Chian Convention that will be held in Chios, from July 30
August 5, 2011. This summer lets all visit Greece, this way we all will
be contributing to the economy of our island. Our message has been the
same for all these years from the past five international conventions:
return to our roots, to the place where our parents were born, and to
introduce our children to Chios, the place we all love.
On Saturday, July 30th, we will all attend the Enosis Omogenon Societys
Annual Dance at the Golden Sand Hotel, in Karfas. On Sunday, July 31st,
we will be hosting a beach party for the young adults and the delegates
with their families will be dining beachfront in Komi. On August 1st &
2nd, everyone is invited to join us on two separate excursions featuring
the Northern & Southern villages of Chios with renowned tour guide,
Thomas Karpouzlis. On the evening of Wednesday, August 3rd, the official
opening ceremony will take place at the Homeric Cultural Centre in Chios.
On Thursday, August 4th, the delegate meeting will take place in the
morning and in the evening invited speakers will participate in seminars
and discussions about a variety of Hellenic and Chian issues. The
Convention concludes with the Grand Banquet where we will return to the
Golden Sand Hotel, in Karfas, on Friday, August 5th.
The Supreme Lodge and Board of Directors are looking forward to seeing
all members, their families, and friends, at the Convention, so that we
may continue this tradition and see forth our ongoing efforts to achieve
our goals as Chians. The Convention will be a great opportunity for all
Chians from the United States and Canada to meet other Chians from
Europe, Africa, and Australia. In these troubled economic times, our
presence in Chios this summer will strengthen and support the economy of
our beloved Island of Chios.
Once again, we kindly request your assistance in deferring the expenses
of the convention. The record exchange rate of the US$ to Euro has put
the convention budget in danger of a projected shortfall. Please review
the contract for Sponsorships/Commemorative Program, respond generously
and promote it to your business associates and friends.

Τά Ηνωμένα Χιακά Σωματεία Αμερικής και Καναδά προσκαλούν όλους τους
Χιώτες και τους φίλους τους να παρευρεθούν στο 6ο Παγκόσμιο Αποδήμων
Χίων και 57ο Ετήσιο Χιακό Συνέδριο που θα γίνει στήν Χίο, από τις 30
Ιουλίου-5 Αυγούστου 2011. Ας επισκεφθούμε αυτό το καλοκαίρι την Ελλάδα,
συμβάλλοντας με τον τρόπο αυτό στην οικονομία του νησιού μας. Το μηνυμά
μας είναι γνωστό όλα αυτά τα χρόνια από τα προυγούμενα συνέδρια:
Επιστροφή στις ρίζες μας, στο τόπο που γεννήθηκαν οι γονείς μας, να
γνωρίσουν τα παιδιά την Χίο που όλοι έχουμε αγαπήσει.
Το Σάββατο, 30 Ιουλίου, όλοι θα παρευρεθούμε στον ετήσιο χορό του
Συλλόγου Ένωσης Ομογενών Χίου στο Ξενοδοχείο Golden Sand στόν Καρφά. Την
Κυριακή, 31 Ιουλίου, θα φιλοξενήσουμε τη νεολαία με γλέντι στήν παραλία
της Κόμης και οι αντιπροσώποι με τις οικογένειές τους θα παραβρεθούν σε
εστιατόριο για δείπνο. 1η και 2 Αυγούστου, θα πραγματοποιηθούν δύο
χωριστές εκδρομες στα βόρεια και νότια χωριά της Χίου με τον διάσημο
τουριστικό οδηγό, Θωμά Καρπουζλή. Την Τετάρτη, 3ης Αυγούστου, η εναρξή
του συνέδριου θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Ομήρειο Πνευματικό Κέντρο στην Χόρα.
Την Πέμπτη, 4 Αυγούστου, η συνεδρίαση και εργασίες συνεδρίου θα
πραγματοποιηθούν το πρωί και το απογευμά μια σειρά προσκεκλημένων
ομιλητών θα συμμετέχουν σε σεμινάρια και συζητήσεις Χιακών και Ελληνικών
θεμάτων. Την Παρασκευή, 5η Αυγούστου, το συνέδριο θα ολοκληρωθεί με την
χοροεσπερίδα μας στο Ξενοδοχείο Golden Sand στόν Καρφά.
Η Υπατη Στοά και το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο ανυπομονούν να δούν όλα τα μέλη,
τις οικογένειες τους και τους φίλους τους στο Συνεδρίο, για να
συνεχίσουμε τις προσπάθειές μας ώστε να επιτύχουμε τους στόχους μας ως
Χιώτες. Το Συνέδριο θα είναι μια μεγάλη ευκαιρία για όλους τους
ομογενείς από τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες και τον Καναδά να συναντηθούν με
ομογενείς από την Ευρώπη, την Αφρική, την Αυστραλία, και Νότια Αμερική.

National Chian Convention on October 10, 11, 12, 2008.
We are once again planning a memorable and fun-filled weekend
featuring music from Greece, golfing at a world class location, a day
trip to Stations Square and Mount Washington in Pittsburgh organized by
the Chios Society Proodos of Greater Pittsburgh, and many more
social activities. We will
be honored to have you, your family and friends attend this 54th
National Chian Convention.
Friday
night will be a great time with Lefteris Bournias from New York on the
clarinet and Vasilis Patrikis on the violin.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for 18 years and under.
Saturday

TRIP TO PITTSBURGH
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2008
The Chios Society
Proodos of Greater Pittsburgh has organized a guided tour of
Station Square and the incline to Mount Washington for all participants
of the convention who are available during the day on Saturday.
Shopping will be
available at Station Square Shops and lunch is being offered at the
Tin Angel Restaurant on Mount Washington overlooking Downtown
Pittsburgh.
The bus will depart the
Avalon Inn at 9:00 a.m. Everyone
interested in going should be in front of the hotel at 8:45 a.m.
The bus will leave Pittsburgh for the return trip at 3:30 p.m.
Please make your
reservations at least one week in advance of the convention.

The 53rd National Chian
Convention (5th International Chian Convention) will take place in Chios,
Greece the first week of August, 2007. The itinerary
includes a Young Adults Beach Party in Vrontados on Wednesday Evening,
Registration/Welcome Party on Thursday Evening, convention meetings on
Friday and the opening of the Art Exhibit at the Homeric Center, and Grand Banquet on
Saturday, and Church Services on Sunday Morning, and an excursion to the
island of Psara on Monday. The Chios
Societies/"Dimitrios Bouboulis Memorial" Scholarship
Awards will again be awarded to qualified Applicants.

With the
attendence of distinguished Hellenic-Americans and representatives of
the Greek government, the Chios Societies of America and Canada have
organized the 5th
International and 53rd National Chian Convention in Chios, Greece,
from August 2nd-6th, in 2007.
The Convention is dedicated to strengthen the relations amongst
Chians living around the world, to encourage the young adults of Chian
descent to maintain a professional and cultural dialogue amongst
themselves, and to support the economy of our island by additional
tourism from our delegates and their families and friends.
The Chians will honor Fmr. US Congressman Michael
Bilirakis of Florida for his support of the Hellenic Republic in
regards to the foreign policy of the United States, and he will
participate in all the activities of the Convention.
The emphasis has been given
to invite and get more young adults involved, which will hopefully lead
to better communication among all the societies and federations that
will participate in the Convention.
The Convention also provides an opportunity to present to young
professionals of Chian descent, a different aspect of the Greek society
and its economy, and to possibly encourage them to look into new
business opportunities in Greece.

year's International Convention will include a beach party in Vrontados,
the birthplace of Homer, and excursions for the young adults in order to
familiarize them with the cultural heritage of our island.
Also, in Daskalopetra (the rock of Homer) from evening to
daybreak, passages from The Iliad
will be read by an international panel put together by The Readers of
Homer featuring Ms. Kathryn Hohlwein & Mr. Yiannis Simonides.
At the Homeric Cultural Centre, in Chiostown, there will be an
art exhibit of featuring the works of Aspasia Melis, a line of invited
speakers from Athens, Australia, and the USA, that will participate in
seminars and discussions about Hellenic and Chian issues with a focus on
the young adults of the Diaspora. The Grand Banquet will take place at the Golden Sand
Hotel, in Karfas, on Saturday, August 4th where we will
recognize the recipients of the Dimitrios Bouboulis Memorial
Scholarships and honor Chian Philanthropist Mr.
Nicholas Los with the United Chian Diaspora Award for contributing
to the benefit of the island of Chios with his generosity towards its
institutions. The
Convention concludes with an excursion to the island of Psara.
The
organizing committee of the 5th International Chian
Convention welcomes and assures all Chian associations and federations
of Europe, Australia, along with the local associations in Greece, that
they will have the opportunity to send delegations to the meetings to
participate with the member societies of the CSA&C.

The 51st National Chian Convention,
was hosted by the Panchiakon Society, the Pelineon, of Chicago, during the weekend of October 28-30, 2005 in Las Vegas, at the Flamingo
Hotel. There was a welcome party on Friday, convention
meetings on Saturday, and an excursion to the Hoover Dam on Sunday. The
Scholarship Awards were awarded to six qualified High
School and College students. The net profit of the convention was
donated towards the Chios Hospital Cardiology
Fund. Details
